What makes this study about e-cigarettes different from others is that it specifically studied smokers who switched to this device to curb their smoking habits; other studies merely looked into smokers in general.

Scientists know the struggle smokers go through in trying to quit completely, even those who may be using e-cigarettes as an alternative. For a better chance of success in kicking the habit for good, researchers from the King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience suggest using e-cigarettes more frequently and every day, instead of occasionally. Moreover, they suggest stopping cigarette smoking as quickly as possible to be more successful in quitting altogether.
One study, also published in the journal Addiction, saw that over 65 percent of those vaping on a regular basis attempted to give up smoking within a year, and by the end of the year, 14 percent of them were able to cut their tobacco consumption by at least half.
